At Barrglen you tell us how you would like to spend your time with us, whether you wish to spend anything from half-an-hour up to four hours on horse back per day, either having lessons in the sand arena or hacking out or maybe you wish to learn about your horse and how to look after them, through stable management lessons.
We offer holidays to both adults and children, though the children do have to be accompanied by an adult, not necessarily having to ride. Through the day the children will be supervised at the centre, leaving the adult free to enjoy the scenic area, golfing, fishing, hillwalking, birdwatching.
Accommodation can be arranged either on-site or locally for a maximum group of four riders, offering individual advice even though you are in a group; it does help us if you all have the same ideas on how you would like to spend the holiday. As the holidays are tailor-made to suit you, the prices are too!
For those who wish to enjoy the beautiful scenery, we have escorted hacks through the glen, along forestry tracks and beach rides, most of the hacks are approximately two hours long and return to the farm for lunch, picnic rides are available on request and even more so when the rides are to the beach. These rides can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace for those who like to take it easy and enjoy the scenery, or you can be more adventurous and get the adrenalin flowing, with the wind blowing the stress and cobwebs away, at a more exhilarating pace!
We also offer B&B for horses, available to you is grass livery, DIY or full livery so that you can get a break from the general day-to-day looking after of the horses. We all know that horses never allow you to have time off, so why not treat yourself as well as your horse and take your horse on holiday!
If you would like to, you could use Barrglen as a base, a B&B for horses and yourself, for riding around Kintyre through the many scenic forestry tracks and lovely beaches (Machrihanish beach in particular as it's approximately 5 miles long).
We can also arrange clinics with Renfrew based trainer David Gatherer. David
is one of Scotlands leading eventers and is also a level 3 EFI coach. For more information
